Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Reminds Public of Possible Risks, Safety Measures Amid Typhoon
SARA DUTERTE – Through a video message, the Vice President told the Filipinos to prepare for Typhoon “Uwan” for everyone’s safety.
The Philippines is currently under a state of national calamity as declared by Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. due to Typhoon Tino and “Uwan”. #TinoPH which has just left the Philippines brought huge devastation to Cebu and other areas in Visayas region.

Several families in the provinces of Cebu and Negros were left homeless by the typhoon. Many residents had to go up on top of their roofs to avoid the floodwater. The roof of the single-storey houses were even reached by the high floodwater in many areas in Cebu.
The death toll due to Typhoon Tino has hit 200 and there are still a lot of individuals who are missing right now. The search and rescue operations in the provinces of Cebu and Negros are ongoing.

Countless people also fear Typhoon “Uwan” which was reported to have the capacity to become a super typhoon. It is eye to cross Luzon, thus, the people were already advised to prepare as it might intensify on Saturday night or early Sunday. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte issued a video message.

In her video message, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte cited the risks of Typhoon “Uwan” as well as the safety measures. The Vice President stressed that the storm is expected to cross Central or Northern Luzon and as much as tropical cyclone wind signal no. 5 may be expected.
Vice Pres. Duterte reminded the public that strong winds and heavy rains may be expected of the typhoon. She also warned that the strong wind may cause the ripping off of trees while the heavy rain may cause flooding and landslide. The Vice President also cited storm surge as one of the risks of the typhoon.

Furthermore, based on the post, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also warned the public about the possible effects of the typhoon. After the storm, there might be loss of power supply and water — which also happened amid and after the wrath of Typhoon Tino.
“Asahan ang mga abala gaya ng natumbang linya ng kuryente, putol na komunikasyon, saradong daan dahil sa debris o pagbaha, at pagkaantala ng supply ng pagkain at gasolina. Ang mga serbisyo ng emergency at rescue ay maaaring ma-overload o maantala,” the Vice President said.
In the video message, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also stressed the safety measures amid Typhoon “Uwan” in the Philippines. She reminded those who are living in high-risk areas to evacuate as well as the public to ensure their properties by tying those that need to be tied.
Following the wrath of Tino, Malacañang said that Marcos Jr. is angry over the massive flooding in Cebu due to the typhoon.
