A freelance photographer bursts into tears after his camera equipment gets submerged in flood during the devastation of Typhoon Tino.
Recently, Glen Sapal, a Facebook user, couldn’t hold back his tears after his camera equipment, his only source of income was damaged by floodwaters during the onslaught of Typhoon Tino in Southern Leyte.
According to Glen, strong winds and rushing water knocked over the case where his camera gear was safely stored. Hoping to save his equipment, he decided to bury it in a sack of rice, praying that it might still work once it dries.
The incident was captured in a video taken on November 5, 2025, at the height of the storm in Brgy. Maslog, Tomas Oppus, Southern Leyte.
Glen shared that he had prepared his things before the storm, placing his camera gear on a higher spot to avoid the rising water.
However, around 10 p.m., the power went out, and the wind became stronger, forcing him to evacuate to a nearby house. Hours later, around midnight, floodwaters reached the area where they took shelter. That was when he remembered his camera gear and rushed back home.
When he arrived, he found the case floating in the flood. He opened it and saw that everything was soaked. The scene broke his heart his equipment was not just tools for photography but the very means by which he supported his family.
“Akala ko safe lang ‘yon kasi nakapatong naman po ‘yon pero nang pagdating ko ng bahay, nakalutang na po ‘yong bag na pinaglalagyan kung ng case ng camera ko. Kaya dali-dali kong pinulot ‘yon at binuksan,” he said.
Sapal said he felt lost and helpless, knowing that he had upcoming photo shoots that would have helped him earn for his family. Still, he holds on to a bit of hope, keeping his gear buried in rice to dry it out.
“‘Di ko na po ma-explain yung nararamdaman ko kaya naiyak na lang po ako kasi may mga upcoming shoot pa sana ako ngayong buwan,” he added.
