2 Men Bravely Rescue 2 Families Trapped in Vehicle & Elderly Woman Amid Cebu Flood

2 Men Praised Online for Rescuing 2 Families Trapped in Vehicle Amid Cebu Flood

Two men bravely helped some of their neighbors during the heavy flooding caused by Typhoon Tino in Liloan, Cebu.

On Thursday, November 6, 2025, a Facebook user named Justine Rey Tejada shared a video showing how he and his brother, Zen Ray, rescued several of their neighbors who were trapped in the rising floodwaters in their area.

Justine said that adrenaline and instinct pushed them to act. They couldn’t just stand by and watch their neighbors, especially the children, in danger. He shared that both he and his brother were among the few in their area who knew how to swim, which made them feel responsible to help.

“I can’t just stand and watch them drowning parang adrenaline nalang yung nag push sa akin tsaka yung mga bata nasa unang Isip ko kaya wala na akong na feel na kaba or ano and kami lang yung marunong lumangoy that time puro kase bata mga kalapit na bahay we’re doing our part nalang din sobrang nakakatrauma po talaga yun,” Justine said.

According to Justine, they first rescued two families who got stuck inside a pickup truck in the middle of the flood. The group included nine people, five children and four adults who were unable to move because of the strong current.

After getting them to safety, the brothers noticed an elderly woman in another house who needed help but had no one to assist her. Despite the rising water reaching near the second floor, they managed to pull her to safety using a rope.

After the rescue, the brothers gave their soaked neighbors spare jackets and clothes to keep them warm while waiting for the flood to subside. The rescued families expressed deep gratitude, saying they wouldn’t have survived without the Tejada brothers’ courage.

Tejada expressed his frustration over the situation, saying the tragedy could have been prevented if proper flood control measures were in place.
