Sen. Lito Lapid Calls for Prayers for Typhoon Tino Victims

LITO LAPID – The Senator expressed his sympathy for the victims of Typhoon Tino in Cebu and other areas in the Philippines.

Cebu Governor Pam Baricuatro is disappointed over the massive flooding despite the P26-billion flood control funds for her province. According to her, the flood control projects in Cebu since 2019 were either ghost or substandard.

According to the Cebu Governor, they already inspected the flood mitigation in the province and have submitted a report to the Independent Commission for Infrastructure. More popularly called ICI, the commission was formed for the flood control infrastructures’ investigation.

Based on the latest update from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in the Philippines, the death toll due to Typhoon Tino has already reached 180. A lot of individuals are still missing amid the ongoing search and rescue operations.

Based on a post of News5 on social media, Sen. Lito Lapid recently expressed his sympathy to the victims of Typhoon Tino in Cebu and other areas affected by the calamity. He also asked the public to pray for them.

“Nakikisimpatya po ako sa ating mga kababayang Cebuano at sa ibang lugar na sinalanta ng bagyong Tino. Ipagdasal din po natin ang ating mga kababayan,” Sen. Lito Lapid said.

Based on the post, Sen. Lito Lapid also claimed that he is already coordinating with the local government units (LGUs) to send his assistance for the victims of Typhoon Tino in their areas. Following the wrath of the typhoon, the NDRRMC proposed to President Bongbong Marcos to announce a national state of calamity.

Amid the presence of an upcoming typhoon and the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino, Marcos Jr. declared a national state of calamity as he approved the NDRRMC’s approval. The President also called on the government agencies to keep their Christmas and year-end celebrations simple in solidarity with the Filipinos who are still recovering from the impacts of the calamities that hit the country.
