Lady Content Creator Shares Photos of Elderly Pedicab Driver Working Despite Looming Storm
A lady content creator shared her encounter with an elderly pedicab driver who continued to work despite the approaching storm.
Recently, Romela Amoroso, a Facebook user, shared photos of the elderly man who was still pedaling his pedicab even with the bad weather. The post quickly went viral and gained various reactions online.
Amoroso shared that she took a pedicab ride home one gloomy afternoon. The driver, an elderly man, was pedaling slowly but steadily despite the strong winds and dark skies. His frail body showed signs of exhaustion, yet he kept going without a trace of complaint on his face.

During their short conversation, Romela asked why he still decided to work even though a typhoon was coming. The elderly man simply said that he needed to earn enough to buy rice for the day. His words left a deep mark on her heart.
Romela offered to help him buy rice and asked him to rest until the weather improved. The old driver agreed, saying he would take a break once he had enough to feed himself.
The female content creator expressed frustration that while others take advantage of others to get ahead, people like the old driver continue to struggle just to live one more honest day.

Here is the full post:
“I rode a pedicab on the way home today. Ang driver? A senior citizen. Ti-gu-lang! We were having our conversation while he was pedaling slowly, exerting what little strength an old body could give. Despite of the obvious heavy push of the pedal, there was no trace of complaint on tatay’s face. Maano man sa abi? Ma reklamo? Te ano dayon? The wind is heavier and the sky is darker than usual today. He could have stopped. But life, for people like tatay, leaves no room for comfort. Ang pahuway, wala sa ila bokabularyo! Yes! Even despite expecting a typhoon.
It breaks my heart, everytime. Seeing people in their frail fragile figure trying to survive just to live one more honest day.
Then it makes me angry. Because there are those who have the strength and ability to have a fair fight in this world. Yet some of them choose the easy way out, deceiving others, manipulating just to get ahead!
How unfair this world can be, that those who are able to make a decent living are the same ones who cheat, who take shortcuts, who step on others for their own comfort. While someone old and fragile, who should already be in comfort, still fights to live the right way.
I am angry! Definitely not at Tatay’s hardship, but at the cruelty of a world that rewards deceit and mocks hard work.
Because people like tatay, who choose honesty even in poverty, even in the middle of storms, carry dignity that no amount of money or power can ever buy.
God bless those who fight fair.
BATO SANG PATAS!”
