Tension Rises as Kiko Barzaga Accuses PCG of Threatening Him

Kiko Barzaga Claims He Received Threats from PCG

KIKO BARZAGA – The feud between Cavite Rep. Kiko Barzaga and the Philippine Coast Guard just intensified as the lawmaker revealed alleged threats against him.

Cavite 4th District Representative Kiko Barzaga has once again spoken up about the alleged threats he received from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). In a Facebook post on Friday, October 31, the lawmaker called out the agency and sarcastically labeled it the “Philippine Crocodile Guard.”

“I received plenty of threats from the Philippine Crocodile Guard,” Barzaga stated, alleging that he had been subjected to intimidation from individuals within the PCG after voicing criticism against them.

He then reassured the public and his supporters that he would not be silenced by these supposed threats. “‘Wag kayong mag-alala, di nila ako kayang patahimikin,” he said, stressing his determination to continue speaking out despite the alleged harassment.

Barzaga also took a swipe at the PCG by mentioning a previous incident involving China’s use of water cannons on Philippine Coast Guard vessels in the West Philippine Sea.

“Water Cannon lang galing China iyak na agad sila, ako pa kaya?” the congressman quipped, implying that the PCG tends to react too strongly to challenges it encounters.

At present, the PCG has yet to release any official statement addressing Barzaga’s claims or responding to his latest remarks.

This recent controversy follows an earlier dispute between Barzaga and PCG Spokesperson Commodore Jay Tarriela, who previously defended the organization after the lawmaker suggested its abolition.

“I am compelled to respond to the misleading and inflammatory remarks made by Cong. Kiko Barzaga in a circulating video, which grossly misrepresent the Philippine Coast Guard’s mandate, operations, and the very essence of our service to the Filipino people,” Tarriela stated on his X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.

He also added, “[T]o call for the abolition of the PCG and dismiss our existence as a ‘waste of government funds’ is both reckless and deeply insulting to the 36,000 strong of the PCG who serve this nation with honor and courage.”

The ongoing dispute between Barzaga and the PCG continues to draw public attention, fueling discussions as both parties stand firm in defending their respective positions.
