Discaya Couple To Spend Christmas In Jail Says DPWH Chief

Secretary Vince Dizon says the Discaya couple will be jailed before Christmas.

DISCAYA COUPLE – Sarah and Curlee will accordingly face jail time before Christmas, according to DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon.

Sarah and Curlee Discaya’s construction firms are among the 15 companies that cornered billions in government flood control projects. Their luxurious life is evident in their lifestyle, and their fleet of luxury cars can tell their massive wealth – massive wealth that is questionable to many people.

Most of the units have seven digits in their prices and are imported, and some were already confiscated by the Bureau of Customs (Bureau of Customs). Upon confiscation and further investigation, it has been found by the authorities that some of the vehicles had missing documents, “which now gives them the right to auction off” the cars.

The BOC estimates the total value of the 13 seized cars at about ₱200 million.

Instead of 13 vehicles, the BOC will now auction only seven (7) of them starting next month. According to Customs spokesperson Chris Bendijo, Curlee and Sarah already filed a voluntary forfeiture of their luxury cars and will no longer contest the seizure of 7, which is now under the custody of the BOC.

As the probe continues, Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Vince Dizon assured that the Discaya couple will not see the morning of Christmas as free people.

“Ang unang kasong malamang ipa-file ng Ombudsman ay yung kaso na ipinayl ng DPWH noong September 13, if I’m not mistaken. Ito yung sa Bulacan First District, 26 people, DPWH and contractors,” he said, and added that this one has solid grounds.

The charges filed are non-bailable, which means, if this happens, they are surely going to spend Christmas inside jail, along with the other individuals involved in the anomalous projects.
