Patrick Dela Rosa Battled Lung Cancer Before Death At 64

The son of Patrick dela Rosa revealed his father battled lung cancer for three years.

Former actor and public servant Patrick Dela Rosa passed away on October 26 following complications from lung cancer.

The Philippine showbiz community mourned the loss of another figure. Former actor and politician Patrick Dela Rosa has passed away at the age of 64, and this heartbreaking news was confirmed by his family through online tributes. The former famous personality received love and gratitude.

Patrick’s brother, Dr. Marlon Gilbert Dela Rosa, shared a heartfelt message on Facebook. He wrote, “Rest in peace Patrick , no more pain tol. You are not just a brother to me but also my best friend. Thank you for all the memories that we share together, you are always there during my ups and down. I LOVE U brother.”

Recently, in an interview with ABS-CBN, Bruce Miguel, the eldest of the late former actor, confirmed that he died of complications from lung cancer. According to him, Patrick struggled with and battled lung cancer for three years.

They found out about his cancer during their cruise in the Bahamas. He suffered from difficulty breathing. After he was checked, water in his lungs was found, and both his left and right lungs were filled with water.

Bruce explained that this was the primary reason Patrick couldn’t return to the Philippines, as his medical condition prevented him from taking commercial flights. In fact, even transporting him to the hospital for treatments and check-ups had become difficult.

When his father was alive, after his retirement, he had always been traveling. The last three years of his life were mainly spent in America for his treatment. There was a time he actually got better. He was even able to visit the Philippines last year, but last October 14, he found out his father’s worsening condition.

“Si Papa kasi, ayaw niya ng any negativity in the room. Gusto niya masaya lagi. All the conversations, nagpapatawa pa rin siya. Magbo-boxing siya kunwari, he also started doing pickleball dito sa Amerika. He would show us how he would do his serve and all that,” he said.

When Patrick passed away, he was surrounded by his loved ones, and he could say that he passed peacefully.

There will be a memorial service in Bakersfield, California, and they have yet to decide if they should bring him to the Philippines.
