After Her Sold-Out Manila Concert, Olivia Rodrigo Plans Another Philippine Visit
OLIVIA RODRIGO – Filipino-American pop icon Olivia Rodrigo has her sights set on returning to the Philippines, saying she “can’t wait to go back” after being deeply moved by the warm welcome she received during her first visit.
Olivia Rodrigo has expressed her excitement about returning to the Philippines, sharing that she hopes to explore more of the country’s scenic islands soon.
In a recent interview with Elle magazine ahead of her concert in New York, the Grammy-winning artist confirmed that she is currently working on her third studio album. During the interview, deputy editor Erica Gonzales — who is also Filipino-American — brought up Olivia’s memorable visit to the Philippines for her homecoming concert last November.

Olivia fondly recalled that trip, calling it a deeply meaningful experience. The concert stood out not only for its heartfelt performances but also for its charitable cause, as all proceeds went to Jhpiego, an organization supporting women’s and girls’ healthcare. Fans also appreciated that the ticket price was set at an accessible P1,500, allowing more Filipinos to attend. During the show, Olivia proudly wore a sash that read “Miss So Filipina,” a gesture that resonated with the audience.
Reflecting on the emotional significance of that visit, Olivia shared, “Just on a personal level, I had just never been to the Philippines and I wasn’t born there. I don’t speak Tagalog very well. I kind of had a chip on my shoulder like, ‘Oh gosh, I hope that they accept me and they see me as a Filipino and I’m a source of pride for them,’ I always wanted that to be the case.”

Her heartfelt words showed how important her Filipino heritage is to her identity and how grateful she felt for the love she received from her fans. “I love the Philippines so much and I can’t wait to go back. And I’m just so grateful to everyone for just welcoming me with open arms. It meant so much,” she added.
As for her next visit, Olivia revealed that she plans to return, possibly next year, to explore beyond the capital city. “I went to Manila, but I really want to go to some of the islands next year and swim in the beautiful oceans and see all the beaches. That’s on the agenda,” she said, ending the interview on an exciting note for her Filipino fans.
