Viral Jeepney Robber Who Threatens Passengers w/ Ice Pick Arrested in Taytay, Rizal
The viral jeepney robber who threatened passengers with an ice pick during a jeepney robbery in Taytay, Rizal, has been arrested.
Authorities confirmed that the suspect was caught through a buy-bust operation conducted by the Taytay Police Station in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
According to the police report, the man was not only involved in robbery but was also linked to the illegal drug trade. A concerned citizen reported his activities, which led to a coordinated operation to capture him.
When authorities confirmed that the suspect in the viral robbery was the same person involved in drug dealings, they immediately launched a buy-bust operation.
During the operation, the suspect was caught after receiving marked money from an undercover police officer posing as a buyer. In exchange, he handed over a sachet of what was believed to be shabu.
After his arrest, police recovered three more sachets of suspected shabu from his possession, weighing around nine grams with an estimated street value of P61,200.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Taytay Municipal Police Station. He faces charges for violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, along with other criminal offenses related to the robbery incident.
Residents expressed relief upon learning about the arrest, as the viral video of the ice pick-wielding man had caused fear among commuters. Authorities reminded the public to stay vigilant and continue cooperating with law enforcement to keep the community safe from criminals.
The quick response of the police and the information shared by concerned citizens played a big role in arresting the suspect.
