Will Marcos Jr. Voluntarily Release his SALN? Malacañang Reacts To Question
Malacañang spoke on the possibility of President Bongbong Marcos releasing his Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) like what some senators recently did.
Recently, several senators released a copy of their SALN amid the request of the Office of the Ombudsman. Ombudsman Boying Remulla asked the lawmakers to voluntarily disclose the records of their assets, liabilities, and net worth to the public.

Ombudsman Boying Remulla recently reopened the public access on the SALNs of the government officials. The office is the repository of the SALNs of the president, the vice president, the officials of the local government, and the officers of the Constitutional commissions.
In the memorandum his office issued which reversed the 2020 circular that place restrictions on the release of the SALN under the term of then-Ombudsman Samuel Martires, Remulla stressed that the principle stated in the Constitution that “public office is a public trust”. Under Martires’ term, the consent of the SALN owner was needed.

Senator Risa Hontiveros disclosed her net worth of nearly P19 million as of 2024. Senate Pres. Tito Sotto also revealed that his net worth is over P188 million as of June 2025. Amid the senators releasing copies of their SALNs, the House of Representatives said they are ready to craft rules for the disclosure of the SALN of the members.

Recently, Malacañang was asked about the matters regarding the SALN of the government officials who are part of the Marcos Jr.’s Cabinet. Based on a report on GMA News, Palace press officer undersecretary Claire Castro said the Cabinet officials are set for a meeting to talk about it.
“Pag-uusapan po ito ng Cabinet members bukas po, magkakaroon po yata sila ng pagpupulong,” Castro said.

The previous administrations practiced the release of the SALNs of the members of the Cabinet. Based on the report, Malacañang was also asked if Pres. Bongbong Marcos will voluntarily release a copy of his SALN. According to the Palace press officer, they will see what is proper.
“Tingnan po natin kung ano po ang nararapat,” the Malacañang official said.
While the net worth of most senators range millions, recently, Sen. Raffy Tulfo and his wife disclosed their net worth has reached over a billion already.
