Tropical Storm Salome Maintains Strength, Signal No. 2 Up in Batanes  

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Thursday (October 23, 2025)

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – Tropical Storm Salome has maintained its strength, and signal no. 2 was raised in Batanes.  

On Thursday (October 23, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. Tropical Storm Salome will affect the country’s weather conditions.  

Salome has maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 90 kph. It was traveling south-southwest at 20 kph.

PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 over Batanes, while Signal No. 1 was raised over the western portion of the Babuyan Islands (Calayan Is., Dalupiri Is., Babuyan Is.) and the northwestern portion of Ilocos Norte (Bangui, Pagudpud, Burgos, Pasuquin, Bacarra, and Laoag City).  

The storm is expected to bring heavy rainfall to Batanes until Friday (October 24, 2025).  

“Salome is now passing close over Batanes and is forecast to move generally southwestward throughout the forecast period due to the high-pressure area over mainland China. This weather disturbance may also pass close or over the Babuyan Islands by this morning and over Ilocos Norte by noon or afternoon,” PAGASA said.

Tropical Storm Salome may weaken into a tropical depression within the next 12 hours. It may also downgrade into a low-pressure area before leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility.  

“At eventually ay mag-dissipate o malulusaw na ito. Para sa ating track patungkol dito kay Baguyan Salome, nakikita natin na sa mga susunod na oras ay mapupunta ito dito sa coastal waters or sa western coastal areas ng Pabuyan Islands,” the agency added.  

The weather agency has advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to, at times, heavy rains.
