LTO Suspends License of Car Driver After Letting Child Take the Wheel
A driver caught in a viral video letting a child sit on his lap and steer the vehicle has been suspended for 90 days.
Recently, the Department of Transportation – Philippines announced on its Facebook page that the license of a driver who allowed his young son to drive a vehicle has been suspended. The post received various reactions from the online community.
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) made this decision following the President’s strong reminder to uphold discipline and responsibility on the road to keep everyone safe.

In the video, the driver can be seen allowing a young child to control the steering wheel while both of them were not wearing seatbelts. The act alarmed many viewers online, as it clearly put both the child and others on the road in danger.
Road safety experts and concerned citizens stressed that such behavior sets a bad example and can easily lead to accidents.
The LTO has already summoned the driver and the registered owner of the vehicle to appear before their office on October 15, 2025. They are expected to explain their side regarding the incident.

According to the agency, the individuals involved may face charges such as reckless driving, failure to use a seatbelt, and allowing a child to sit in the front seat, violations that are all punishable under traffic laws.
Children should never be allowed to sit in the front seat or handle the steering wheel, even for fun. Rules like wearing seatbelts and proper seating arrangements are not just laws, they are there to protect lives.
Drivers can help prevent accidents and make the roads safer for everyone by practicing discipline and responsibility. LTO hopes this incident encourages all motorists to think twice before making careless decisions that could endanger others.
