Animal Shelter Seeks Help to Avoid Power Disconnection After Two Bills Arrived Late

An animal shelter is asking for help from the public to avoid having its electricity cut off after receiving two months of overdue bills late.

Recently, the Facebook page MBY Pet Rescue and Sanctuary, shared an appeal asking for assistance in paying their electricity bills. The post quickly went viral and gathered various reactions and offers of support online.

According to the shelter, the two Meralco bills arrived late and were left outside the gate during heavy rain. A staff member discovered the soaked bills early in the morning and had to dry them with a blower just to read them.

The bills, covering the months of August and September, came with a disconnection notice warning that power could be cut anytime after October 13, 2025.

The shelter expressed deep concern over the possible power interruption. Without electricity, their water pumps would stop working, cutting off their main source of water.

It would make it difficult to provide clean drinking water for the rescued animals and to maintain the cleanliness of the shelter. Tasks like washing food bowls, cleaning kennels, and doing laundry would become nearly impossible.

The group shared that they often ask for help to feed the animals, but this time, they are appealing for assistance to settle their electric bills. They emphasized that water and power are essential for the animals’ well-being and daily care.

WITHOUT POWER, IF WE GET DISCONNECTED, OUR MOTOR PUMPS (our only source of water) also stops and the whole Sanctuary will have no water to use for every rescues’ drinking water, cleaning all areas / enclosures/ kennels, laundry, dishwashing of thousands food and drinking bowls of rescues,” the shelter wrote.

The shelter continues to hope that kindhearted people will step forward once again to support their mission of giving rescued animals a safe and healthy home.
