A wedding in in Sto. Niño Parish, Talaingod, Davao del Norte was almost canceled after a powerful magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck Davao Oriental. 

On the morning of October 10, 2025 (Friday), a couple’s wedding almost didn’t push through after a magnitude 7.4 earthquake struck the town.  

According to Kimmy Ugapay, the groom’s sister, the ceremony was suddenly interrupted when the ground began to shake. The entourage was already walking down the aisle when the earthquake hit, causing panic among the guests and church staff.

Everyone quickly moved to safety as the church trembled. After the shaking stopped, the couple and their families decided to continue the wedding outside the church to ensure everyone’s safety. 

Despite the fear and chaos, love still triumphed that day as the ceremony resumed in an open area. 

Kimmy shared that one of the sponsors fainted during the incident but thankfully recovered shortly after. The wedding was completed around noon, and though the experience was nerve-wracking, everyone was grateful that no one was seriously hurt. 

The videos show the exact moment the earthquake struck while the entourage was walking down the aisle. Netizens admired the couple’s courage and determination to continue with their special day despite the unexpected disaster. 

The supposed to be a solemn and romantic moment turned into an unforgettable story of love and resilience. Instead of letting fear take over, the couple chose to celebrate their union surrounded by family and friends.
