Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Releases Statement after ICC Denies Dad Rodrigo’s Interim Release Bid
PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao Congressman issued a stern warning following the International Criminal Court (ICC) junking the interim release plea of former President Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands since March. The 80-year-old former President is faced with an accusation of murder as “crimes against humanity” filed by the ICC prosecutors.
In August, the camp of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte renewed his appeal for an interim release. His daughter, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, claimed that a “third country” which she did not disclose allegedly committed to host the interim release of her father.
The Vice President claimed that it is neither Japan nor Australia. According to her, the former President needs a 24-hour caregiver to take care of him. She previously claimed that supposedly not all of the needs of her ‘super senior citizen’ father can be provided inside the ICC detention facility.
Recently, the International Criminal Court issued its decision rejecting the interim release plea of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Based on the decision of the ICC, the previous statements of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte have affected the ruling that junked the interim release plea of her father. The foreign court stressed that the elder Duterte is allegedly a flight risk and his family remains vocal about their criticisms against his arrest.
Recently, Davao 1st District Cong. Paolo Duterte, the eldest son of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, issued a statement following the ICC junking the interim release plea of his father. Through a post on social media, the Congressman called the ruling as allegedly “a gross and disgraceful miscarriage of justice”.
Cong. Paolo Duterte also called the ICC decision as a “political theater”. He stressed that former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, an 80-year-old man, is supposedly not a flight risk and is much loved in his own country. He also claimed that his father has allegedly been the subject of political persecution since he stepped down from the presidency.
Cong. Paolo Duterte also issued a warning against the individuals who allegedly forcibly took former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte and brought him under the custody of the ICC in The Hague. Based on the post, he warned that he will make sure that they will pay for the supposed “crime” that they committed.
Previously, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that FPRRD was allegedly found unconscious in his ICC room.
