Famous actress Julia Montes supports the ordinary people in their plea for a wage increase amid the rising cost of living.
More than being just an actress, Kapamilya actress Julia Montes proved that she is above her talent. She is someone with empathy and awareness. Recently, she candidly talked about the struggles of Filipino workers and highlighted how insufficient their wages are amid this time when the cost of living continues to soar.
There’s an ongoing buzz about the anomalies and corruption in the government, which is nothing new, but now has come to light. Montes talked about the “nepo babies,” and this is where she started airing her sentiments about how much harder life is for ordinary people who earn minimum wages.
“Nepo babies” is a term used for celebrities who come from influential families, but at the current time, it is widely used to call the children of corrupt government officials. These are the children who shamelessly display their wealth that is from stealing.
“Ang hirap ng buhay. Tumataas lahat ng bilihin pero hindi ang sweldo. Sana kung tumataas ang Pilipinas, tumataas din ang salary,” Julia said, which echoed the sentiments of many ordinary citizens.
She explained that no matter how hard people work, things are not just balanced enough to improve their lives, as the prices continue to rise, but not the compensation they receive.
Based on her personal experience, she admitted that even as a successful artist, she still struggles to manage her budget. This realization made her understand how much harder it must be for regular employees or minimum-wage earners.
“Kung ako nga iniisip ko pa ‘yung gagastusin, for sure lalo ‘yung mga regular employee lang. Magkano lang per day. May iba, on call lang. So ang hirap ng buhay,” she said.
