From Luxury Bags to Corruption Talk: Zeinab Harake’s Vlog Turns Real Fast!
ZEINAB HARAKE – Youtube star Zeinab Harake didn’t mince words in her latest vlog, sharing how paying taxes feels painful when corruption remains rampant in the country.
Social media personality Zeinab Harake openly shared her sentiments about corruption in the Philippines in her latest vlog alongside fellow influencer and Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Big Winner Mika Salamanca.
In their conversation, the two content creators discussed Mika’s growing collection of luxury handbags, which soon evolved into a candid and witty exchange about money management, spending habits, and taxes. Mika admitted that her mother had already reprimanded her for her frequent purchases of designer bags.
“Sabi ng mom ko, tumigil na ako. Manahimik na ako kakabili ng bags,” Mika revealed.
Defending the idea of treating oneself, Zeinab said that it’s important to reward one’s hard work, especially after fulfilling financial responsibilities like paying taxes. She shared that she makes it a habit to buy herself something special every quarter.
“Ok lang din bigyan mo ng award sarili mo. Halimbawa, ako kasi, every 3 months, every quarter kasi ang BIR di ba? So kapag nagbabayad ako ng BIR, nasasaktan talaga ako. So kapag nagbabayad ako, di ba dapat deserve ko rin ng something for myself? So every 3 months ako bumibili. Kumukurot lang ako ng konti [sa budget]. So ok lang ‘yung i-reward mo ‘yung sarili mo,” she said.
The tone of the vlog shifted when Zeinab voiced her frustration about the government’s corruption issues.
“Kinukurakot nga nila, wala tayong nagagawa, ‘di ba?” she remarked, pointing out how officials misuse public funds.
Mika laughed at Zeinab’s statement but chimed in humorously, saying, “Totoo naman. Kailangan kurakutin din natin ang sarili natin. Hindi lang dapat sila [nangungurakot sa atin].”
Agreeing with her friend, Zeinab emphasized that there’s nothing wrong with spending on personal wants as long as one has earned it through hard work. “Tsaka pinaghirapan mo naman ‘yan. Mapupuno mo ‘yan soon [closet ng mga bags],” she added.
Although the exchange was playful and lighthearted, many viewers found Zeinab’s words relatable. Her mix of humor and honesty reflected the frustrations of many Filipinos regarding corruption and taxes, while also highlighting the importance of rewarding oneself for hard work and perseverance.
