Sen. Erwin Tulfo Joins Senators Risa Hontiveros, Pia Cayetano in List of Possible Senate Blue Ribbon Chairperson
ERWIN TULFO – Senate President Tito Sotto announced that the Senator is now included in the candidates for the Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship.
Amid the flood control probe in the Senate which is led by the Blue Ribbon Committee, the committee’s chairman, Sen. Ping Lacson, resigned from the position. Senate Pres. Tito Sotto confirmed that he received the resignation letter of Lacson.
According to Senate Pres. Tito Sotto, the former Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Chairman is ‘frustrated’ over the comments of their fellow senators on the Senate flood probe. The Senate Chief previously said that five (5) senators are being considered to replace Lacson in the position.
Senate Pres. Tito Sotto named senators Risa Hontiveros, Kiko Pangilinan, Raffy Tulfo, JV Ejercito, and Pia Cayetano as the candidates for the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman. However, Sen. Kiko Pangilinan declined the position.
According to Pangilinan, it will be an “unwise” move to accept the Blue Ribbon Committee as he already leads three (3) Senate committees. Sen. Raffy Tulfo also claimed that he does not want to lose his focus on his advocacies and the committees he leads.
In the case of Sen. JV Ejercito, he believes that there is someone who is more capable to lead the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee. The refusal of the three (3) senators left the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship to either Sen. Risa Hontiveros or Sen. Pia Cayetano. However, SP Sotto recently announced that Sen. Erwin Tulfo is also being considered.
Sen. Erwin Tulfo was the vice chairman of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee under the lead of Sen. Ping Lacson. Based on a report on GMA News, Senate Pres. Tito Sotto said that Tulfo may take the position if all five (5) candidates who were previously named will decline from accepting the post.
According to Sotto, Tulfo is a good choice for the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship. Previously, Sen. Erwin Tulfo went viral on social media over his “bend the law” remarks during a Senate flood hearing.
