OB-GYNE Team Assists Pregnant Woman in Giving Birth on Sidewalk in Cebu
A pregnant woman gave birth to her baby on a sidewalk following a 6.9 magnitude earthquake that jolted Cebu.
Earthquakes are among the natural calamities that can hardly be predicted. Recently, a 6.9 magnitude earthquake jolted Cebu and brought damages to some structures in the different cities in the province. Several regions in Visayas felt the strong shaking and the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) confirmed that the epicenter of the quake was in Bogo, Cebu.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 11.10°North, 124.14°East – 019 km North 70° East of Bogo City. The quake was tectonic in origin and had a 005 kilometer depth of focus. Up to Intensity VII was felt in several areas in Visayas.
Amid the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that jolted several areas in Visayas, the patients and medical staff, nurses, and doctors of several hospitals in Cebu had to immediately evacuate for their safety. Based on a post of Freeman on social media, the patients and medical personnel of Cebu City Medical Center were brought to Cebu City Fire Station.

Amid the evacuation, a pregnant woman went into labor and gave birth to her baby. She was assisted by her OB-GYNE team and Dr. Queen Grasya as she gave birth on a sidewalk. The patient was already due.
Despite the happenings, the labor was successful. Based on the post, it was already Dr. Grasya’s second time to assist a pregnant woman into labor on the side of the road.
“My 2nd time nakapaanak og dalan. This, I may say, is one of my unforgettable experiences of 2025,” the Doctor stated.
