Doctors, Nurses, Medical Staff Assist Patients in Cebu amid Evacuation due to Earthquake
Several nurses in Cebu secured the infants from the hospital’s nursery to safety amid the 6.9 magnitude earthquake that hit the province.
Cebu was recently jolted by a strong quake. The shaking was felt in several areas in the Visayas region. According to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or Phivolcs, the epicenter of the quake was located in Bogo City.

The epicenter of the quake was located at 11.10°North, 124.14°East – 019 km North 70° East of City of Bogo. It was tectonic in origin and had a depth of focus of 005 kilometer. Up to Intensity VII was felt due to the quake.
The 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu cost lives and rescue operations are still underway now. Amid the quake, several hospital managements ordered the medical staff, nurses, doctors, and patients to evacuate for their safety. The doctors, nurses, and medical staff still held on to their duties to the patient as they assisted them amid the evacuation due to the quake.

Based on a post of The Freeman on social media, the nurses and hospital staff of Cebu Doctor’s Hospital immediately responded to the situation and secured the infants from the medical facility’s nursery.



Aside from the patients, doctors, nurses, and medical staff of the Cebu Doctor’s Hospital, the medical staff and patients at Cebu City Medical Center also evacuated the facility amid the 6.9 magnitude earthquake. A pregnant woman even gave birth on the sidewalk after the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in Cebu.
According to Phivolcs, both damages and aftershocks are expected of the said quake. The residents of the affected areas are advised to monitor the updates and to implement all necessary measures for their safety.
Amid the search and rescue operations, photos and videos of churches and buildings that were heavily-damaged by the earthquake in Cebu circulated on social media.
