Lauren Dyogi recalled the time when ABS-CBN lost its franchise
Star Magic head Lauren Dyogi shared her thoughts on artists who left ABS-CBN when the company was not able to renew its franchise.
2020 was a challenging year for the Kapamilya network. The pandemic happened, and they were not allowed to renew their franchise. With this, financial concerns arose, and some employees lost their jobs.
Following that problem, some artists opted to seek opportunities in other fields and other networks. On the other hand, some remained.

In a recent interview on Karmina Constantino-Torres’s YouTube Channel KC after hours, Lauren Dyogi was asked about those artists who decided to leave ABS-CBN during the franchise issue.
He said that when he was assigned to lead Star Magic, it was not something he asked for. Lauren said that first and foremost, he is a director and producer.
When he became the Star Magic head, it was out of necessity because they were downsizing. They had to take multiple roles. He took on the challenge when this role was given to him.
They were in a difficult situation at that time. There were times when they would ask artists to stay with them even though there was uncertainty.

“Masakit yung iiwanan ka rin eh. Masakit talaga yun. I cannot say now na I fully understand. Mentally, yes, naiintindihan ko na those were uncertain times and they wanted to be more secure, that’s why they opted to go somewhere,” he said.
However, Lauren Dyogi said that it was also natural for him to feel hurt. “Hindi mo rin maaalis sa akin na masaktan, na iniwan mo kami sa panahong kailangan namin kayo,” the ABS-CBN executive said.
Direk Lauren added that, as he would recall this, there is still a certain pain that he feels.
