Why did it become a big deal? Based on a previous article, Curlee Discaya was cited for contempt due to lying regarding his wife’s absence. When asked what the valid reason was for her absence, he said that she had a heart condition. However, in an actual letter from Sarah, what was stated was:
“Regrettably, I have an important meeting with my employees on the day of the hearing to explain the problem that the company is facing now and the effects this has on them. This meeting was already scheduled before I received the Honorable Committee’s invitation this late afternoon and some of my employees will be coming from various places, thus, I can no longer cancel the meeting set for tomorrow”
Curlee apologized, saying that Sarah had a history of diabetes and hypertension, but Senator Risa Hontiveros pointed out that the illnesses he was mentioning were starting to change.
After claiming the health conditions of his wife, images and clips of Sarah drinking soft drinks during a Senate hearing sparked buzz online. This happened when the controversial contractor attended the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee hearing on Thursday, September 25.
A clip of Sarah requesting two cans of Coke went viral, which amused people as she was a bit cool for sugary drinks, as someone who has a heart condition, hypertension, and diabetes. After receiving both, she briefly stuck out her tongue, placed the cans in front of her, smiled, and then opened her meal container.
Bela Padilla reacted to this, and in her post, she had a different observation. For her, seeing how Sarah got two cans of soda at the same time was already a manifestation related to what she was accused of.
The Discaya couple allegedly pocketed a huge amount of money from handling government projects that were mostly defective, and some even are considered ghost projects.
Padilla wrote in her post, “Siguro pwede naman humingi ng isa pang Coke pag naubos yung una, para lahat mabigyan muna no? Dito pa lang kitang-kita mo na eh.”
