Rep. Zaldy Co Reacts To Revocation of Travel Clearance by House amid Medical Treatment Abroad
ZALDY CO – The Ako Bicol Partylist Representative answered to the revocation of his Travel Clearance by the House of Representatives.
Several officials of the government are linked to the multi-billion flood control mess in the Philippines. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives launched their own investigations to the issue. Pres. Bongbong Marcos also ordered the creation of an indepedent probe team that will investigate the infrastructure projects funded by the government.
Following the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI, the House of Representatives announced an end to its flood probe. According to newly-elected House Speaker Bojie Dy, the flood control probe is best left to the ICI.
House Speaker Bojie Dy also revoked the Travel Clearance of Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co and ordered his immediate return to the Philippines. Co is one of the government officials tagged in the flood control issue.
However, when controversial contractors Pacifico Discaya and Cezarah Discaya named Co, the Representative was already in the United States for his medical treatment. Several other individuals tagged him to the issue during the Senate and House flood probes.
Recently, Ako Bicol Partylist Rep. Zaldy Co issued a statement over the revocation of his Travel Clearance by the House. Based on a post of ABS-CBN News, in his statement issued by Co’s office, the Representative claimed that he intends to return to the Philippines but he is “apprehensive” of what awaits him. He claimed that he is already judged even before a complaint has been filed against him.
“I am saddened that my colleagues in the House of Representatives would deprive me of the time needed for medical care that I have previously scheduled… I have every intention of returning to the Philippines. I am also intent on belying the false claims made against me before the proper forum,” he stated.
Zaldy Co tagged the accusations against him as “false, baseless, and politically-charged statements”. Based on the post, in his statement, he stressed that they have caused public condemnation against him and his family.
Co was recently accused by Orly Guteza, a former marine who claimed that he was allegedly a former staff of the Representative. Aside from him, Guteza also pinned down former House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Recently, Leyte Cong. Martin Romualdez junked the claims of Sen. Rodante Marcoleta’s witness that link him to the flood control mess.
