Update on #OpongPH as Country Braves Severe Tropical Storm

#OPONGPH – Here is an update on the situation in the province of Negros Occidental amid the wrath of the typhoon.

Typhoon Opong is currently bringing heavy rains and strong winds in several areas in the country. The typhoon which has weakened into a severe tropical storm hit the province of Masbate this morning.

Typhoon Opong Update

According to PAGASA or the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Administration, the storm hit Palanas, Masbate at 4:00 a.m. today and is expected to go in a westward direction crossing Sibuyan Sea, southern CALABARZON, and northern MIMAROPA.

Several areas in Luzon and Visayas are under storm signal no. 4 due to Typhoon Opong. In the province of Negros Occidental, several cities and municipalities are under heavy rains that already caused the water level to rise.

Based on a post of RMN DYHB Bacolod 747, the water level in the river in Barangay 1 in the municipality of Moises Padilla rose amid the heavy rains brought by #OpongPH. Here are some of the photos taken at the area:

In another municipality in the province of Negros Occidental, in La Castellana, the clearing team of the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental is conducting a clearing operation in the area near the Ibid Creek in Sitio Tamburong, Barangay Biak na Bato.

Based on a post, the road was blocked by the sand brought by the overflowing of the creek due to the heavy rains brought by #OpongPH.

In Talisay City, based on a post of a netizen, Typhoon Opong brought flooding in Barangay Zone 14-B. The residents had to evacuate for their safety.

The province of Negros Occidental is currently under storm signal no. 1 due to #OpongPH. In the provinces of Masbate and Samar, Typhoon Opong brought destruction to properties.
