Vice Ganda Calls Out Politicians Amid Contestants’ Struggles
VICE GANDA – Comedian-host Vice Ganda turned emotional on It’s Showtime after meeting a 67-year-old contestant who revealed that she and her child had been sleeping on the streets of Baclaran.
Vice Ganda turned emotional during a live segment of It’s Showtime on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, after meeting a 67-year-old contestant, Nanay Rosie, who has been living on the streets of Baclaran, Parañaque City.
The touching encounter happened during the show’s Laro Laro Pick segment, where Vice, along with co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Anne Curtis, got to know Rosie. She shared her struggles as a street vendor who sells soft drinks, bottled water, and cigarettes in Baclaran and Pasay. Due to financial hardship, Rosie could no longer pay rent and was forced to sleep on the sidewalk with her child.

Rosie’s story deeply affected Vice, who compared her situation with the lavish lifestyles of some politicians. “Tingnan mo, may isang mag-ina na nagtitinda sa kalsada araw-araw, umulan-umaraw tapos hindi na nakabayad ng upa kay sa kalsada na naninirahan. Tapos may mga congressman na bente (20) ang bahay? May mga pulitiko na trenta (30) ang sasakyan?,” Vice remarked.
The comedian also used the moment to denounce widespread corruption in the country, expressing his frustration over how government funds are misused while ordinary citizens suffer. “Wag na talaga tayong pumayag. Grabe na ’yon. Ito [si nanay Rosie], nanakawan ito. Walang Pilipino ang dapat sa kalsada natutulog kung talagang ginagamit niyo lang nang marangal ’yong perang ibinayad namin sa buwis,” he said.
Vice further stressed that the country’s vast resources should be enough to prevent homelessness if only public funds were managed honestly. “Bilyon-bilyon [at] trilyon ’yan, e. Hindi dapat natulog ’tong ale na ito sa kalsada kung hindi niyo kami ninakawan,” he added.

In a heartfelt gesture, Vice promised to shoulder Rosie and her child’s housing expenses for an entire year, ensuring that they would no longer have to live on the streets. His emotional pledge not only moved the audience but also highlighted the importance of compassion and accountability in society.
The moment served as a reminder of the stark realities faced by many Filipinos and the urgent need for meaningful action against poverty and corruption.
