Chiz Escudero and Heart Evangelista are under fire
Former Department of Public Works and Highways undersecretary Robert Bernardo alleged that Senator Chiz Escudero received kickbacks, and his wife, actress-fashion influencer Heart Evangelista, was dragged into this.
It is known to the public that Heart is a global fashion influencer now who frequently attends fashion week shows in Paris, Milan, and New York. She would display a lavish lifestyle on her social media page because of her collaborations with luxury brands.
Amid the investigation into the anomalous flood control projects, Sen. Chiz’s name was being linked, and one of the reasons behind this was the lavish lifestyle of his wife. Some netizens even pointed out that the Kapuso star never became one of the top taxpayers despite how she would flaunt the luxury items she has worth millions.
On September 25, ex-DPWH Usec. Robert Bernardo claimed that he gave 20 percent kickbacks, which is roughly P800 million, to Cherry Mobile owner Maynard Ngu, and allegedly, this was for Sen. Chiz Escudero.
Because of this, netizens once again criticize Heart Evangelista and her lavish lifestyle despite being the wife of a politician, who is governed by the law stating that public servants should have modest lifestyles.
A netizen said that fans of Heart will probably defend that she and her husband had a prenuptial agreement. On a social media live before this, Heart stated that before getting married, she and Sen. Chiz signed a prenup agreement stating that there was a complete separation of assets.
The Queen of Creative Collaborations even said that she was set to file a case against her bashers who have been discrediting her hard work and just tagging her as a nepo wife. As of this writing, Sen. Chiz Escudero has yet to speak about the allegations against him.
