Customer Gets Upset After Mall Employees Deny His Credit Card Payment for Alcoholic DrinksĀ
A male customer became upset with several mall employees for refusing to process his credit card payment for alcoholic drinks.
Recently, Apostol Ken, a Facebook user, shared his frustration and anger toward the mall staff after they did not allow him to pay for alcoholic drinks using his credit card. The post quickly went viral and garnered reactions online.
Ken recounted on how credit card payment for an alcoholic drink was refused at Gaisano Grand Mall Mandaue in Mandaue City, Cebu.

According to the customer, he and a friend went to the mall one evening to buy groceries, including a bottle of alcohol. After lining up for nearly an hour, he was told that while groceries could be paid for with a credit card, the alcohol had to be paid separately in cash due to the storeās policy.
The man explained that he had enough credit, showed proof that his card was valid, and even offered alternative payment through his debit card. Despite this, the staff stood firm, repeating the same explanation without offering a clearer reason or solution.
Apostol claimed he and his friend spent almost three hours trying to get answers from the staff, even asking for a manager, only to be told the same vague response. He admitted he eventually lost his patience after hours of being dismissed, especially with other shoppers watching the commotion.
āIt was humiliating to be denied the use of my own card, especially with people lining up behind me. I left feeling frustrated and disrespected,ā he said.
Many netizens questioned why such a rule exists and why it was not posted or explained properly. Others pointed out how inconvenient and unfair it is for customers to be restricted from using their own cards.
