Leyte’s 4th District Representative Richard Gomez was accused in this video of being a “Flood Control King.”
Richard is just one of the many celebrities who have ventured into politics. For many years, he has served as a congressman in his wife Lucy Torres’s home province. In the past, he also served as the Mayor of Ormoc City.
Netizens from the province in Visayas have expressed online their support for the politician couple because of the changes they brought. However, a video posted by @pinayinswitzerland on Reddit under r/newsPH said otherwise.
The one-minute video showed clips of the supposed unsuccessful flood control projects in Leyte under Cong. Richard Gomez. An alleged photo of the flood control project in Riverside Matag-ob was shown. It can be seen that it was already destroyed.
“Yung bakal ang nipis parang spaghetti, yung semento parang champorado, malabnaw,” the voice over said.
Then, it was alleged that there was a flood control project in Albuera, Leyte, which was stated to be 80 percent completed in documents, but the photo that was shown barely reached that point.
“As in, buti pa yung multo nagpapakita, yung flood control niya wala,” the voice over stressed. Then, it was alleged that the congressman’s resort in the same area was built efficiently.
In the comment section of the post, netizens criticized the actor-politician. “Oh. That’s why he was offended nung tinitira ni Magalong ang congress regarding corrupt practices,” a netizen commented.
To recall, Richard Gomez had a fiery post about a “noisy” mayor who has been attacking congressmen regarding the alleged “anomalous projects.” Although he did not mention any name, it was believed that the actor-politician was attacking Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong.
In his reaction, Mayor Magalong wondered why Cong. Gomez said that. Eventually, the Leyte representative reconciled with the Baguio City Mayor. As of this writing, Richard Gomez has yet to react to this.
