Authorities Arrest Suspect in Viral Student Assault in Valenzuela Footbridge
VALENZUELA CITY – The POLICE authorities arrested the suspect in viral student assault in Valenzuela footbridge.
Previously, a college student was assaulted and nearly victimized in an attempted rape on a footbridge in Barangay Parada. The incident sparks outrage and concern across social media.
The local government, led by Mayor Wes Gatchalian, immediately coordinated with the city police to track down the suspect after the video spread. Thanks to quick action and teamwork, the suspect was arrested on the evening of September 18, 2025.
“Kung natatandaan n’yo po two days ago, meron po nag-viral na video paukol sa isang student natin… nabugbog doon sa bridge natin sa Parada at may attempted rape,” Gatchalian said.
Through CCTV backtracking and auto-tracking technology, police were able to identify the man and confirm his involvement. Footage showed him fleeing the crime scene, which eventually led to his capture.
Investigators later revealed that the suspect already had a criminal history, with previous records related to drugs and illegal gambling as far back as 2016.
Authorities have filed charges of acts of lasciviousness and physical injury against him. The arrest brought some relief to the community, especially to residents who were alarmed by the boldness of the crime in such a public place.
Mayor Gatchalian commended the swift and efficient efforts of the Valenzuela City Police Station, headed by Police Chief Joseph Talento. Their prompt action ensured that the suspect did not remain at large for long, showing how strong coordination between the government and law enforcement can quickly bring justice.
The incident reminds the public of the importance of vigilance and community cooperation. While the victim has gone through a traumatic experience, the quick resolution of the case also brings hope that justice will be served.
