Nun Went Viral for Leading Protest Against Corruption in Manila Streets
SISTER TECSON – A nun went viral and elicits comments online for leaving a protest against corruption in busy streets of Manila.
On Friday night, September 19, 2025, the busy streets of Manila turned into a platform for protest as anti-corruption advocates gathered to voice their frustration against government corruption.
At the center of the demonstration was Sister Constance Tecson, OSB, who encouraged motorists to honk their horns as a way of expressing disapproval of corrupt practices.

The honking of vehicles quickly became a symbol of unity, cutting through the noise of the city and reminding everyone that ordinary citizens have a voice. Various people joined the movement, whether by holding placards, chanting, or simply pressing down on their car horns to show solidarity.
Organizers described the activity as more than just a simple gathering. It was meant to build momentum for the upcoming “Trillion Peso March,” a nationwide protest scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2025.
Thousands of Filipinos are expected to participate in this larger protest, which aims to highlight public outrage over alleged misuse of funds and demand greater accountability from leaders.
The rally last night may have been modest in size, but its message was loud and clear. Even short blasts of car horns carried a strong call for change. For many, the act of honking was not only a protest but also a show of hope that corruption can be challenged when people come together.
As the country braces for the bigger march, the citizens are watching, and they refuse to stay silent. The sound of horns in Manila is just the beginning of a louder clamor for honesty and good governance in the days ahead.
