Melai Cantiveros Admits Falling Out of Love w/ Jason Francisco: “Muntik talaga maghiwalay”
MELAI CANTIVEROS – Comedienne and TV host Melai Cantiveros got real about marriage struggles as she admitted she once fell out of love with Jason Francisco.
Melai Cantiveros recently opened up about the challenges she faced in her marriage with actor Jason Francisco. In her appearance on From the Heart podcast with DJ Chacha, Melai admitted that she once fell out of love with Jason and revealed how their relationship nearly ended in separation.
“Alam mo hindi naman talaga tayo perfect kasi nafafall out of love tayo. Kaya yung sinasabi nilang fall out of love, that’s very normal sa relationship. Na fall out of love ako… May sobrang malala talaga… Muntik talaga maghiwalay… Siyempre, ugali natin kasi minsan may pride tayo na hindi talaga natin sinasadya, tao lang naman tayo. Minsan, wala tayo sa mood… Maraming reason talaga sa ugali pero thank you Lord napagtagumpayan,” Melai shared.
She explained that pride, misunderstandings, and differences in attitude created tension between them. At one point, she was preparing herself for a breakup, convinced that their marriage had reached its breaking point. However, she recalled how an honest and emotional conversation with Jason changed the course of their relationship.
According to Melai, faith and forgiveness helped them overcome what could have been the end of their love story. “Huhupa din yung galit. Marerealize niyo, deserve ba ng mga anak niyo itong pride na pinakita mo? Kung hindi deserve ng anak mo, mag okay kayo… forgiveness is the key,” she added.
Melai and Jason’s love story began inside the Pinoy Big Brother house in 2009, where fans fondly called their tandem “Melason.” Their chemistry blossomed beyond the reality show, eventually leading to marriage in 2013. Today, they are raising two daughters, Mela and Stela, who Melai said played a huge role in motivating them to fight for their marriage.
Despite the ups and downs, the couple’s journey has become an inspiring story of resilience, showing that love, when nurtured with humility, communication, and faith, can withstand even the toughest trials.
