Gretchen Barretto, Atong Ang Deny Bribery Attempt

The camps of Gretchen Barretto and Atong Ang deny these claims.

Gretchen Barretto and Atong Ang are involved in the missing sabungeros case and recently denied this accusation.

In the case of cockfighting enthusiasts who went missing four years ago, Gretchen Barretto, Atong Ang, and 60 other individuals were dragged following the claims from whistleblower Julie “Dondon” Patidongan, or alias “Totoy.” The whistleblower is a former employee of Ang.

Previously, the Department of Justice (DOJ) previously released an Immigration Lookout Bulletin Order (ILBO) against the alleged suspects. After this, , Ang, Barretto, and others were served with subpoenas by the DOJ, including former National Capital Region Police Office chief, retired Police General Jonnel Estomo, and 18 cops.

Gretchen has appeared before the DOJ for the preliminary probe on the case of the missing sabungeros, and recently, there have been allegations about her attempting to bribe one of the complainants. She and Ang were accused of this, and their camps have spoken about it.

Based on a report, two people were arrested in Taytay, Rizal. It was alleged that they attempted to bribe Jaja Pilarta. She was asked to sign the affidavit of recantation and desistance to execute the withdrawal of the charges filed against key personalities and other respondents in the case.

This is in exchange of PHP 1.5 million. Pilarta is the partner of missing sabungero John Inonog.

Ang’s lawyer Gabriel Villareal pointed out, “Ang akusado po doon ay hindi si Mr. Ang. Ang akusado doon ay si Julie Patidongan at kanyang mga kasamahan.”

He added that Ang can’t be blamed as he was not among the accused indivuduals in that particular case. Ang’s attorney accused Patidongan of being the one likely behind the bribery attempt.

Barretto’s lawyer Alma Mallonga also vehemently denied this, saying, “No! We know nothing about it.”
