BONGBONG MARCOS – The President stressed his cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and his allies will not be spared from the flood control probe.

According to Marcos Jr., the country’s over P500-billion spending on flood control projects is “enormous”. He flagged 15 contractors which got P100 billion from the total spending of the nation on flood control deals under his term.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives launched investigations on the anomalous flood control projects that used the people’s money. Pres. Bongbong Marcos also ordered the creation of an independent commission that will probe the infrastructure projects of the government.

Malacañang has already released the Executive Order for the creation of the said independent commission. The said independent body for the infrastructure probe has the power to move for the seizure of assets as well as the issuance of a subpoena.
It was previously revealed that the members of the said Independent Commission on Infrastructure or ICI includes former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Rogelio Singson and SGV Country Managing Partner Rossana Fajardo. Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong is a special adviser of the ICI.
Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also confirmed that former Supreme Court Justice Andres Reyes will be the chairperson of the Independent Commission on Infrastructure. During a press conference based on a post of ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive was asked about his cousin, House Speaker Martin Romualdez, and his allies.
Pres. Bongbong Marcos stressed that House Speaker Martin Romualdez and his allies will not be spared. During the press con, he also claimed that doing it is the only way to prove that they will not be spared.
“There’s only one way to do it — they will not be spared. Anybody will say, ‘Ah hindi, wala, wala tayong kinikilingan’. Wala namang maniniwala sa’yo hangga’t gawin mo,” Marcos Jr. said.

The House Speaker was one of the government officials mentioned in the testimony of controversial contractors Pacifico and Sarah Discaya wherein they named the government officials as well as the DPWH officials who allegedly receive kickback from flood control projects. Amid the issue, the camp of House Speaker Martin Romualdez insisted that Mr. Discaya himself claimed he has no direct transaction with the Speaker.
