Abra Government Employee Arrested for Allegedly Selling Illegal Drugs

A government employee in Abra was arrested during a buy-bust operation for allegedly selling illegal drugs. 

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Cordillera arrests a 30-year-old government employee, known only by the alias “Nica” during a buy-bust operation in Barangay Calaba, Bangued, after allegedly selling illegal drugs.  

According to PDEA, one of their operatives posed as a buyer and arranged a transaction with the suspect. Once the exchange was completed, agents quickly moved in and arrested her. The operation resulted in the recovery of about three grams of suspected illegal drugs worth more than P20,000, along with the marked buy-bust money used during the operation.

Authorities also seized the motorcycle allegedly used by the suspect to deliver the illegal drugs. The arrest emphasized the continuing efforts of law enforcement to track and stop individuals involved in the illegal drug trade, even those working in government offices. 

Residents in the area expressed various reactions, with some shocked that a government employee was involved in such activities. For many, the arrest serves as a wake-up call that illegal drugs can affect anyone, regardless of profession or background. 

PDEA confirmed that charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against Nica. She is currently under police custody while awaiting the filing of her case.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Cordillera Abra Provincial Office arrested an individual and confiscated illegal drugs of around three (3) grams valued at P20,400.00 in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. Calaba, Bangued, Abra, on September 10, 2025. 

The suspect, identified as a 30-year-old female, job order- government worker from Brgy. Calaba, was arrested after she sold a plastic sachet containing suspected illegal drugs to an undercover operative. Additionally, her motorcycle was also impounded as it was believed to have been used in transporting illegal drugs. 

The suspect was charged for violating Section 5 and 11, Article 2 of Republic Act 9165 or the “Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002”.
