After four years of being together, actress Bela Padilla and Swiss Norman Bay broke up, and this is the real reason behind it.
Actress-director-screenwriter Bela Padilla was in a relationship with Swiss Norman Ben Bay. She met him while filming for Meet Me in St. Gallen, and from having a meaningful friendship, it later grew into a romantic relationship.
However, previously, after promoting “100 Awit Para Kay Stella,” Bela revealed their split. She cited that long-distance setup and her decision to finally stay in the Philippines to work full-time were among the factors that greatly contributed to their separation.
“Definitely one of the biggest factors was my moving back. Hindi rin kasi kami magkasama [noon.] Nasa London ako, nasa Switzerland siya. Nahirapan ako. LDR na shorter but still LDR,” she shared.
Recently, in an interview with Karen Davila in her latest YouTube vlog, the actress reiterated that it was really her decision to move back to the Philippines that really made them decide to end their relationship.
“I think it was really just the reality of me moving back here. We had a talk, like it was a very mature conversation. We spoke about my moving back here. And I asked him, what are your plans for the next five years, the next ten years? Do you see yourself moving here also? And at that time when we first had that conversation, he very bluntly said no,” she shared.
He was honest with her to say that he is not open to moving here in the Philippines with her. She respected his choice to stay in London, considering that he has a flourishing career there.
She respected the decision as she would have also said no if he asked her to marry him and stay in London. Despite the amicable split, she did not deny how much she was affected by it. She cried a lot and realized that the person who saw first that it’s over is also the first one to bleed.
In their situation, she had to be the bigger person to bring up the conversation. She added, “I don’t know if he saw it too and he just didn’t wanna speak up or he didn’t wanna say anything, but I had to be the bigger person I guess, and bring up the conversation.”
