Oil Price Hike to Take Effect on Tuesday (September 9, 2025)

Gas Companies to Implement Oil Price Hike This Week

FUEL PRICE UPDATE – Several gasoline stations in the country announced another oil price hike starting this week.

Motorists will have to shell out more for fuel starting Tuesday (September 9, 2025), as oil companies announced another round of price hikes. This will be the fourth straight week of increases for gasoline and the third for both diesel and kerosene.

Effective 6:00 a.m. Tuesday, Shell, Seaoil, and Caltex will implement the following adjustments:

  • Gasoline: P1.00 per liter increase
  • Diesel: P1.40 per liter increase
  • Kerosene: P0.70 per liter increase

Cleanfuel will roll out the same adjustments, except for kerosene which it does not carry, at 4:01 p.m. Other firms are expected to follow within the day.

The Department of Energy earlier anticipated this latest round of hikes, pointing to several international factors pushing global oil prices higher. These include new U.S. sanctions targeting Iran’s oil revenues, a halt of oil exports to an Indian refinery under EU sanctions, and declining Russian oil supply after Ukrainian strikes on key processing facilities.

Ongoing airstrikes in Russia and Ukraine have also added to market volatility.

Oil Price Hike

Last week, prices already went up by P0.70 per liter for gasoline, P1.00 for diesel, and P0.70 for kerosene. These consecutive increases have brought total net adjustments for 2025 to P12.80 per liter for gasoline, P13.45 for diesel, and P2.75 for kerosene as of September 2.

For drivers, this means another hit to their daily budget as commuting and delivery costs are likely to climb. Many are expected to gas up early in the day to take advantage of current prices before the adjustments take effect.

Authorities continue to monitor global oil market developments and encourage motorists to plan their trips wisely while waiting for fuel prices to stabilize.
