Update on ICC Case vs. Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte ahead of Confirmation of Charges Hearing
RODRIGO DUTERTE – The International Criminal Court Registry has transmitted more application from ‘victims’ who want to participate in ICC case.
Former Pres. Duterte is detained under the custody of the ICC in The Hague, Netherlands since March 11. Then, upon his arrival from Hong Kong, the Philippine authorities assisted the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) for his arrest.

Duterte was immediately flown to Dubai en route for The Hague, Netherlands. He is currently faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity for the drug war of his administration.
Amid his ICC detention, his family members are taking turns in visiting the former President. It was just recently when all four (4) Duterte siblings were allowed to visit former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte inside the ICC detention facility.

After their visit, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that their father was really happy. According to her, it was really the request of the former President that they visit him together. Visibly, the Vice President, Davao City 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, acting Davao City Mayor Baste Duterte, and Kitty Duterte were happy, too.

However, after a few days, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte claimed that the ICC barred them from revealing information about their visits to former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte. According to her, they were reminded of the rules but she assured that her father is still alive inside the ICC detention facility.

The confirmation of charges of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is set on September 23, 2025. Recently, there is an update on the upcoming ICC hearing. Based on a report on Inquirer, the International Criminal Court Registry confirmed transmitting more applications from people who are interested to be registered as ‘victims’ in the ICC case against the former President.
Currently, there is a total of 322 so-called ‘victims’ applications in the ICC case filed against former Pres. Duterte. Based on the report, out of said total number of parties of want to be registered as ‘victims’, 18 of the applicants said they just want reparations.
Before the confirmation of charges of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on the 23rd of this month, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte is set to visit Japan again.
