PAGASA Says LPA’s Trough and Southwest Monsoon to Affect PH Weather Condition
PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that LPA’s trough and habagat will bring rains over parts of the country.
On Tuesday (September 2, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The LPA’s trough and the southwest monsoon will affect the country’s weather conditions.
PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina reported that a trough of a low-pressure area and the Southwest Monsoon will continue to bring scattered rains and thunderstorms in Metro Manila and parts of the country.

A low-pressure area was last spotted at 865 kilometers East of Northern Luzon. Its trough will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Cagayan Valley, Central Luzon, Ifugao, and Benguet.
“This low-pressure area will continue to move northward and outward and either dissipate or exit the [PAR] if it does not develop into a tropical depression,” Badrina said.
The southwest monsoon will bring similar weather conditions over Metro Manila, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Western Visayas, Camarines Norte, and Camarines Sur.

Habagat will also bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms in Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Caraga, and the rest of Visayas.
“Samantala, inaasahan din natin ng maulap na kalangitan sa may western section ng Kabisayaan. Habang nalalabing bahagin ng ating bansa, makita nyo po dito sa Mindanao, halos walang kaulan ang inaasahan natin. Generally, fair weather sa nalalabing bahagi ng ating bansa pero posible pa rin po yung mga localized thunderstorms sa hapon hanggang sa gabi,” he added.
The localized thunderstorms will bring similar weather conditions over the remaining parts of the country.
The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
The coastal water condition across the country will be slight to moderate, according to PAGASA.
