PAGASA Says LPA and Habagat to Affect PH Weather Condition

PAGASA LATEST UPDATE – The state weather bureau reported that a low-pressure area’s trough and the southwest monsoon will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Saturday (August 30, 2025), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The trough of a low-pressure area and habagat will affect the country’s weather conditions.

PAGASA weather specialist Grace Castañeda reported that a trough of a low-pressure area was spotted outside of the Philippine Area of Responsibility. It will affect the weather conditions in parts of Visayas and Mindanao.

But throughout the day, or by midday onwards, these rains will lessen. We will have improving weather, except for possible isolated rains due to thunderstorms,” Castañeda said.

The LPA has a slim chance of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours. It will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

The trough of a tropical cyclone will bring similar weather conditions over Batanes, Cagayan, and Ilocos Norte.

The southwest monsoon will affect MIMAROPA, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, the rest of Visayas, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, the Bicol Region, and the rest of Mindanao.

In the afternoon and evening, there will be chances of rain, lightning, and thunder. This is still due to the habagat and localized thunderstorms,” Castañeda added.

The localized thunderstorms will prevail over the rest of Luzon.

The weather agency advised the residents in the affected areas to take precautionary measures for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over the western section of Luzon will be moderate. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions, according to PAGASA.
