A motorcycle taxi rider in Jakarta, Indonesia, has tragically lost his life after being run over by police vehicle in a protest-related accident.
The victim, identified as 21-year-old Affan Kurniawan, was struck by a police tactical vehicle on August 28, 2025 (Thursday) during a large demonstration over the country’s rising cost of living.
Reports say that Affan was not a participant in the protest and was simply caught in the middle of the chaos.
In a video circulating online, a police vehicle from the Polri Mobile Brigade can be seen driving through the crowd and hitting Affan. Witnesses claimed that the vehicle did not stop and immediately fled the scene after the collision.
