Woman Gets Depressed After Being Seen Undressed by Window Cleaners Inside Her Apartment

A woman in Chengdu, China, reportedly suffered depression after being seen undressed by two window cleaners inside her apartment.

The incident has sparked discussions online about privacy, safety, and responsibility in high-rise residences.

According to her husband, identified only as Mr. Cheng, the incident happened in April 2025. The couple rents a unit in a luxury apartment complex, paying around 10,000 Chinese yuan monthly.

They had repeatedly informed the building management and housekeeping staff to notify them whenever exterior glass cleaning was scheduled. Despite these reminders, two workers suddenly appeared outside their bedroom window while his wife was asleep without clothes.

The unexpected encounter left the woman shocked and deeply distressed. Since then, her mental health has suffered, leading to ongoing struggles with depression and anxiety. Mr. Cheng has demanded both a public apology and fair compensation from the apartment management, but his requests have not been granted.

It’s been almost four months now, and the doctor diagnosed her with depression and anxiety. I’ve demanded a public apology and a reasonable compensation package from the apartment management, but they’ve refused,” Cheng said.

The issue has stirred debate across China. Some people blame the property management for failing to inform tenants before sending workers to clean, stressing that privacy should always be respected.

Others argue that residents also bear some responsibility for securing their personal space, such as keeping curtains closed.

As of this writing, the couple continues to seek accountability from the apartment management, hoping that the incident reminds the public of the importance of communication and respect between residents and property administrators.

The incident was reported by Chinese media outlet What’s on Weibo on August 24, 2025, and has since gained widespread attention. Many sympathize with the woman, pointing out how a seemingly small oversight can have serious effects on someone’s mental well-being.
