Police Officer Arrested for Leading Robbery Group Called “Gapos Gang”
A police officer in Bulacan who was leading a group called “Gapos Gang” was arrested during his day off.
The suspect who turned out to be a police officer from Batangas was arrested for being the alleged leader of a robbery group known as the “Gapos Gang.”
The group was first linked to a rice store robbery in Bocaue, Bulacan, where five masked men barged in, tied up the people inside, and stole cash and valuables.

“Papasukin nila yung bahay ‘pag nagbukas ng pintuan then papasok sila at then itatali nila yung mga biktima. Lahat ng puwede nilang makuha ay kukunin at kukunin nila,” Police Regional Office 3 director Police Brig.Gen. Ponce Rogelio Peñones said.
The CCTV footage showed how the robbers worked quickly, leaving the victims helpless. Their method was simple but terrifying, they would force their way inside, restrain the people, and take everything they could.
Days later, the same group struck again, this time targeting a soft drinks warehouse. But in this attempt, one of the suspects accidentally lowered his mask, revealing his face. Investigators used the footage to trace him, eventually discovering that the man was Police Staff Sergeant Miguel Andrew Oñate, 34, assigned in Tanauan, Batangas.
The police recovered a .45 caliber gun, bullets, a fake firearm, bolt cutters, cellphones, stolen coins, and even a car plate number. Victims positively identified him as one of the men who tied them up during the robberies.
Authorities revealed that Oñate committed these crimes during his days off, working with his group to carry out the heists. He also rented vehicles in Laguna to use in their operations. Reports say he admitted to being involved in at least three incidents.
For now, Oñate remains under custody and is facing multiple charges. His arrest serves as a strong reminder that crime can come from unexpected places, even from those sworn to protect the people.
