Paolo Duterte Says No ‘Ghost’ Flood Control Projects in Davao: “Kung may baha man dito, humuhupa din agad”

Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte Reacts To Lawmaker Questioning the Flood Control Projects in Davao

PAOLO DUTERTE – The Davao City 1st District Congressman claimed that there are no ‘ghost’ flood control projects in their place.

Currently, several flood control projects funded by the government are under investigation. President Bongbong Marcos was left disappointed and angry over many ‘ghost’ flood control projects that have reportedly been paid by the government already.

Previously, during a press conference, Marcos Jr. revealed that the expenses of PH on the flood control projects of the government has already reached over P500-billion. The said amount covered the government deals from July 2022 to May 2025.

The President stressed that it is a huge amount. During his 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) which was held a few weeks prior to the press con, he admitted that several flood control projects funded by the government failed resulting to flooding in many areas across the nation.

During the press con, Pres. Bongbong Marcos also exposed that 20% of the P545-billion spent by the country on flood control projects went to 15 contractors. He cited the said contractors:

Amid the issues on the flood control projects in the country, Manila 6th District Representative Benny Abante challenged Davao Mayor Baste Duterte to ask his brother, Davao City 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, about the fund he allegedly got for the flood control projects in the district.

Recently, based on a post of News5, Davao Cong. Paolo Duterte who is currently in The Hague, Netherlands reacted to the remarks of his fellow lawmaker in the House of Representatives. The son of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte claimed that all the flood control projects in his district are complete and the deals were properly implemented during his father’s term.

“Kung may baha man dito, humuhupa din agad, hindi kagaya ng mga swimming pool n’yo diyan sa lugar ninyo,” the Davao Congressman said.

Furthermore, based on the post, Cong. Paolo Duterte also claimed that there are allegedly not a lot of flood control projects in his district. He stressed that there are no ‘ghost’ flood control projects in his district in Davao.

“Wala namang nagbabagsakan na mga flood control projects dito, wala din mga ghost project dito,” Duterte said.

Currently, the Davao Congressman is in The Hague for visitations to his detained father inside the International Criminal Court detention center. All four (4) Duterte siblings recently visited former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte inside the ICC detention facility which was a request of their father.
