Sen. Imee Marcos Speaks on Lifestyle Check Order of Marcos Jr. among Gov’t Officials
IMEE MARCOS – The Presidential Sister and Senator expressed her affirmation to the “Lifestyle Check” order of her brother, President Bongbong Marcos.
Amid the frustration of the Chief Executive over the alleged anomalous flood control deals of the government, Marcos Jr. ordered lifestyle checks among the public officials which will start with the officials of the DPWH or the Department of Public Works and Highways. The department earned massive criticisms and bashing over the anomalous flood control projects in the different areas across the nation.
According to Malacañang press officer undersecretary Claire Castro, the Office of the Ombudsman as well as the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) may conduct the lifestyle check. Several agencies may also do so.
Previously, in a press conference, Marcos Jr. revealed that the country has already spent P500-billion for the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025. The President himself admitted that it is an “enormous” amount.
Furthermore, the President also exposed that 15 contractors got 20% of the total flood control projects of the government during the aforementioned duration. He flagged the following contractors:

Several officials of the government reacted to the “lifestyle check” order of Pres. Bongbong Marcos including Vice Pres. Sara Duterte with whom he is visibly not in good terms with. The Filipino people witnessed the soured relationship between the highest and the second-highest officials of the country since she resigned from being the secretary of the Department of Education (DepEd) in 2024). Amid the issue, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos maintained good ties with Duterte.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte agrees with the “lifestyle check” order of Marcos Jr. among the public officials. However, according to the Vice President, it should be a deep investigation of the lifestyle of government officials and should not only cover the elected officials but as well as the appointed officials in the government.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte also said that the investigation should expose the “dummies” of the public officials. Recently, presidential sister and Sen. Imee Marcos also expressed her side on the “lifestyle check” order of her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, among the government officials.
Based on a post of TV Patrol on Facebook, Sen. Imee Marcos supports the order of her brother, Pres. Bongbong Marcos, for a “lifestyle check” among the government officials. However, according to her, there should be due punishment or imprisonment for those who will fail the assessment.
“Imbestigahan kung talagang may negosyo o minana na negosyo at higit sa lahat dapat may makulong kasi parang wala namang ending ‘to,” the Senator said.
Amid her visible ties with the Duterte family, Sen. Imee Marcos was one of those who skipped the 4th SONA of Pres. Bongbong Marcos.
