Vico Sotto Featured In ‘Beware of Mr. Clean’ Commentary, Netizens React

A commentary warned the public against Vico Sotto

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was the subject of this commentary after his viral post about veteran journalists who allegedly conducted “paid interviews” with his 2025 elections opponent, businesswoman Sarah Discaya.

In Sotto’s post, he shared screengrabs from Korina Sanchez and Julius Babao‘s vlogs featuring Discaya. The Mayor slammed the respected journalists because, allegedly, a large amount of money was involved in those features.

Sanchez and Babao denied that millions were involved and stressed that what they did was a feature interview showcasing the “rags-to-riches” story of the businesswoman.

Mayor Vico Sotto alleged that Sarah Discaya’s company is involved in the alleged anomalous flood control projects.

The politician received support for his bravery in calling out the veteran journalists. However, there were also those who attacked and criticized him, just like Kapuso journalist Arnold Clavio, who challenged the mayor to show proof.

After that viral post, a commentary was released by the media company Daily Tribune with the title “Beware of Mr. Clean.” In this commentary, it was stated that with Mayor Vico’s “clean” image, accused media was accused of receiving millions for an interview, but the public did not demand any proof, and allegedly, with the assumption that cleanliness is equal to truth.

Suddenly, Mr. Clean doesn’t merely govern Pasig; he governs the country’s moral spin. The one who controls the credibility of information controls the war,” the commentary stated.

The commentary also stated that Mayor Vico could not sustain the saint image, so he would tarnish himself a little, in order not to collapse from the impossible pressure of perfection. “Because you can’t be a hero without an enemy,” the article said.

This was shared on Reddit under “Pinoy,” and netizens in the comment section defended Mayor Vico Sotto. Here are some comments.
