Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, Siblings Visit Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte Inside the ICC Detention Center
RODRIGO DUTERTE – Vice President Sara Duterte claimed that her father is “really proud” after the Senate archived the impeachment case against her.
After the Supreme Court declared the articles of impeachment against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte as “unconstitutional”, the senators also decided on the case against the Vice President. They voted a week after the opening of the 20th Congress to give everyone an “ample time” to study the case.
Shortly after the session started, Senate Blue Ribbon Committee chairman Rodante Marcoleta moved for the dismissal of the impeachment case against the Vice President. It was followed by Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto attempting to table Marcoleta’s motion.
However, Sotto’s motion gained only five (5) votes resulting to its loss. After several senators have spoken their side, Marcoleta agreed to change his motion to archive the impeachment case against the Vice President.
Several senators cited their obedience to the ruling of the Supreme Court as well as the Motion for Reconsideration filed by the House of Representatives before the high court. Aside from the SC, several complainants also asked the court for the reversal of its decision.
The Senate moved to vote on the motion to archive the impeachment case against Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. With a 19-4-1 voting result, the Senate archived the impeachment case against Duterte and Senate Minority Leader Tito Sotto could only pray for “God to have mercy” on the chamber’s move.

Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte and her siblings, Davao First District Congressman Paolo Duterte, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, and Kitty Duterte visited former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte. It was the first time that all four (4) Duterte siblings visited their dad Rodrigo inside the ICC detention facility altogether. According to the Vice President, it was really her father’s request.
Following their visit, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed the reaction of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte on the Senate archiving the impeachment case against her. Based on a report on GMA News, the Vice President said her father is “really proud”.
“Ayun, ang sinabi, he’s really proud. Hindi kasi kami nagkausap nung dismissal ng impeachment. Visit ‘ata ni Kitty ‘yun and siya ‘yung nagbigay ng news kay president Duterte,” the Vice President said.
Previously, Kitty Duterte revealed that former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte is “very happy” over the Supreme Court declaring the impeachment articles against VP Sara as “unconstitutional”.
