Richard Gomez and Benjamin Magalong had this recent encounter
Leyte’s 4th District Representative Richard Gomez and Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong put an end to the recent issue between them.
This issue started when Gomez shared a post about a “mayor” who was being so noisy in calling out “corruption” being committed by congressmen.
For the actor-turned-politician, that “mayor” should have addressed this issue with the specific person he was referring to and not involved other congressmen.

“If this is about his own congressman, who happens to bring in more projects for his district than he can for his city, don’t include all of us,” Rep. Richard Gomez said.
He also stressed that the mayor should first address the issue in his own jurisdiction before pointing fingers at others. “Mahiya ka naman,” Gomez said in his post.

Although, the congressman did not mention who that mayor was, it was easy for the public to guess that it was the Baguio City Mayor. Because of that, Mayor Benjamin Magalong was asked during an interview about Gomez’s Facebook post.
Magalong said that he was saddened by what Gomez posted, and he did not know why the congressman had that statement. However, the mayor said that there was no point in arguing.

Just recently, based on the article in PEP, Magalong shared a post on his Facebook page showing that he and Gomez hugged each other during a recent encounter. The Baguio City Mayor wrote a short caption for his post. “Despite the noise and accusations, true friendship remains,” Mayor Magalong wrote.
This garnered various reactions from netizens. Although they were skeptical about this, some netizens expressed that it is a good thing that public servants still value their duties despite differences. Here are some comments.
