Woman Bitten by Giant Python While Sleeping Inside Her Home in Davao City
A 32-year-old woman in Davao City was bitten by a giant python while sleeping inside her home in Barangay Cabantian.
Cindy Rodriguez was resting in her living room when she suddenly felt a heavy weight pressing down on her body. It was a reticulated python crawling over her. She tried to push the snake away, but the reptile struck and bit her before slithering toward the window in an attempt to escape.
The python struggled to get out through the screened window but failed. Cindy, still shaken from the bite, decided to open the door to let the snake out of the house. She later noticed that the bathroom was in disarray and believed the snake might have entered through the toilet, which had no water at the time.

Despite her fear, Cindy managed to capture a video of the python as proof, thinking it might help rescuers when she called for help. She quickly contacted Central 911, who responded to her call, gave her first aid, and brought her to the hospital for treatment.
Though python bites are not venomous, the incident left Cindy traumatized. She admitted she is now afraid to stay or sleep in her living room, especially with the thought that another snake might find its way inside.
“Kinabahan ako. Sobrang kaba ko non and parang iniisip ko, 30 minutes na lang ‘yung life ko. Kailangan kong tumawag ng 911 baka kung mapano ako. Vinideohan ko ang pagtakas ng sawa kasi feeling ko magtatanong yung 911 eh kung anong klaseng ahas ang kumagat sayo,” said Cindy.
The woman believes the snake could have easily come from the nearby area due to several trees surrounding their area.
Experts later confirmed that reticulated pythons are non-venomous but can still pose danger due to their size and strength.
