A 14-year-old female student lost her life when she was accidentally electrocuted inside the school campus in Davao del Norte.
A tragic incident struck a school community in Davao del Norte after a 14-year-old student lost his life when he was accidentally electrocuted inside the campus.
The student identified as Janah Gere Paster was on her way home when she came into contact with a live wire at Mambago-B National High School in the Island Garden City of Samal. The electric shock caused her to collapse on the spot.

In an attempt to save her, a friend rushed to her side but was also electrocuted in the process. Both students were immediately brought to the hospital. Unfortunately, the Paster did not survive due to the severe injuries he sustained, while his friend managed to pull through and is now recovering.
The Department of Education in Davao Region has launched an investigation into the case. Authorities are now checking the school’s electrical connections to determine how the live wire was exposed and to prevent the same tragedy from happening again.
“Additionally, immediate measures are being taken to inspect and secure all electrical systems and school facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of all learners and staff, not just at the affected school but across all schools under our jurisdiction,” DepEd said.
The heartbreaking incident has left classmates, teachers, and the community in mourning. Parents and residents have also raised concerns about safety inside schools, emphasizing that campuses should always be secure places for children.
As the investigation continues, the focus now is on ensuring that no other child will experience such a tragedy.
For the grieving family, friends, and classmates of the young victim, the painful memory of his sudden passing will serve as a call to prioritize safety in schools across the region.
